The Winter Articles is an opportunity for students to showcase their writing skills while offering practical insights into business and DECA. By participating, students will refine their analytical abilities, business communication, and problem-solving strategies, which are essential skills for any future business leader.
Topics
Participants are tasked with writing an article that shares insightful perspectives regarding, but not limited to:
Emerging business trends and technology
Business news
Business concepts or theories
Case study strategies
Some starting ideas to think about include: AI, ESG & CSR, remote work, consumer psychology, corporate ethics, supply chain analytics, fintech, startups, case study visuals, an innovative case study structure, etc. The article should be informative, practical, insightful, and optionally humorous, leaving readers with something interesting to think about heading into DECA Provincials Season.
Competition Guidelines
Word Count: Articles should be between 500 and 800 words.
Formatting:
12-point font (Times New Roman or Arial)
Double-spaced
Include a title and your name at the top of the document
Content: Articles should be clear, well-organized, and free of grammatical errors. Ensure that the content is original and relevant
Tone: Write in a professional and engaging manner. The article should be informative, but also accessible to readers who are new to the topic
Submission: Submit the article in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format via email to osbnreao@gmail.com by February 1st, 2025 (11:59 PM). Optionally include your name and school if you’d like; these will not play a factor in judging.
Incentive
The top 3 article will be provided their own page on the OSBN-REAO website! Name will be showcased optionally, and the absolute winner will be given an extra gift for their work.
Judging Criteria
Relevance: How well the article addresses the topic and provides valuable insights into business and DECA
Creativity: The originality of the ideas and the approach to the topic
Clarity and Structure: How clearly the article is written, including the organization of ideas and the overall flow of the article
Syntax: Correct adherence to English standards and formatting guidelines

Tentative Date
The deadline for submissions will be February 1st, 2025 at 11:59 PM. Please ensure your article is submitted on time to be considered for judging. Given the tight deadline to Provincials, extensions will not be granted.
